Future Plan

Future Plan :

The Department of Pathology is incrementing one step at a time. The previous aspiration of kicking off
IHC has come to fruition with 17 immunohistochemical markers available as of now. Further future
plans of the department include:

1. New IHC markers for oncopathology diagnosis: Apart from the 17 routine markers that are
available, the department also wants to acquire specific panel markers and latest molecular markers
which are used to arrive at a precise diagnosis in oncopathology.

2. Cell block preparation: This is a technique used for processing residual material remaining after
completion of cytological preparations and has the advantage of viewing multiple sections of
cytological material in the form of histopathology.

3. Automated cytology systems: Liquid based cytology systems (SurePath or ThinPrep) are currently
utilized to reduce debris and cell clumps in a cytological smear. Automated systems reduce the
screening time and provide a cleaner background for better cytological diagnosis.
