Department Details :

Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation’s Medical College had been established at Ahilyanagar in 2004 under the great leadership of Late Dr. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil (Padmabhushan Awardee). Presently institute has world class infrastructure and providing high quality medical education to students with the constant guidance and support of Hon. Namdar Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Chairman, Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation, Ahilyanagar and Hon. Dr. Sujay Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, CEO, Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation, Ahilyanagar. The institute is recognized by Medical Council of India, New Delhi and is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik.

The department of Pharmacology was started in the year 2004 under the guidance of great academician Dr. Bahat S.H.  Sir and presently headed by Dr. Kiran Vakade.  The department has been gradually upgraded to present status by experienced faculty. First undergraduate batch in 2004 had a capacity of 100 seats and now it is 150 seats. The postgraduate program was started in 2011. It has obtained recognition in 2014.  

The Department of Pharmacology is involved in teaching Pharmacology to undergraduate MBBS, physiotherapy, nursing students. The Department of Pharmacology plays an important role in the educational and research missions of the institute.

•To provide knowledge of rational drug therapy, its importance and application to the undergraduates.

•To enhance and improve the research activities in the field of pre-clinical and clinical pharmacology.

ROLE OF DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY

Academics

•The Department of Pharmacology was established in the year 2004.

•The Department is involved in teaching activity to various courses like MBBS (U.G), and CCMP (Modern Pharmacology).

For MBBS

•The goal of teaching undergraduate students in Pharmacology is to develop the rational and scientific basis of therapeutics into clinical practice.   Also, to enable students capable of using drugs in clinical practice with scientific awareness by means of integrated teaching with clinical and pre-clinical departments.  

•The students are also taken to industrial visits during their course for giving a practical awareness on manufacturing of various forms of drug formulations.  

•Students are also encouraged in bilateral participation in academics by conducting Seminars and Quiz competitions.
